My Love... My country - A poem by Mai Abaza

My Love... My country

My love to you is like a wild tree that refuses to live in a bottle,
My roots penetrate deeply into ground,
Can't be pulled out by storms.

My branches are green and young,
swaying with gentle light breeze,
Yet can't be broken as they are solid and strong.

My leaves are willing to be kissed by sunshine and awakened by the sky's gifts.

Others may think of chains restricting me
But I feel the Eagle's wings.
One wing covers the hemisphere.
Flying freely wherever I want,
Feeling safe in my mountain net.

Mai Abd-Al Raouf Abaza

I'm not a poet or a writer. I'm just an Abkhaz girl from the diaspora in Syria, describing her love to her homeland Apsny.

But I feel the Eagle's wings.‎One wing covers the hemisphere
