November 17 - SUKHUM, ABKHAZIA - The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia Sergey Shamba regards the statement of the EU Observer Mission’s head Hansjorg Haber that the European Union intends to use satellites for monitoring the level of military activity in Abkhazia and South Ossetia as “protection of the bloody regime”.

“When Georgia launched wars against Abkhazia and South Ossetia, for some reason neither the European Union, nor anybody else tried to monitor the movement of the Georgian troops from space”, Sergey Shamba told journalists. “Even now when the EU commission led by Heidi Tagliavini drew the conclusion that the August, 2008 aggression has been committed from the part of Georgia, that exactly the Georgian troops have started the attack on Tskhinval and fired upon the sleeping city from all kinds of armaments, the EU tries to protect the bloody regime”.

“Since we don’t let the EU observers in Abkhazia, they decided now to monitor us from space”, the head of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs said ironically. He expressed doubt whether “in Europe people are well informed that under the conditions of a crisis, complicated financial problems felt practically in all the countries, the EU will monitor from space if only Abkhazia won’t attack Georgia and throw this dictator and monster Mikhail Saakashvili down”.
