Chechnya Triumphs in XI Mini-Football Tournament for Disabled Amputees in Sukhum

SUKHUM / AQW'A ―  Sukhum recently witnessed the conclusion of the XI International Mini-Football Tournament for Disabled Amputees. This event was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Victory in the Patriotic War of the people of Abkhazia in 1992-1993.

The contest saw active participation from four distinguished teams hailing from Barnaul, Kemerovo, Chechnya, and Abkhazia.

The intense face-off for the third place was between the teams of Kemerovo and Barnaul, with Barnaul clinching the win with a 1:0 score. The exhilarating final battle pitted Abkhazia against Chechnya, concluding in a thrilling 4:3 victory for the Chechen side.

Numerous dignitaries graced the event with their presence, extending their heartfelt congratulations to the participants upon the tournament's successful culmination. Notable figures included Tarasch Khagba, Chairman of the Abkhazia's State Committee for Youth and Sport; Valery Arshba, President of the National Olympic Committee of Abkhazia; Leon Tsvizhba, President of the Paralympic Committee of Abkhazia; chief referee Vyacheslav Alexandrov; Alkhas Zhiba of the GSO; Dmitry Tarba, Chairman of the Disabled People's Fund of Abkhazia; and Alexander Vorotnyuk, representative of the Association of Combat Veterans of Internal Affairs Bodies and Internal Troops of the Krasnodar region and Sochi city.

In a heartfelt speech, Leon Tsvizhba remarked, "Thank you very much for the game you played. My deepest gratitude goes to the tournament organisers and every supporter of the Paralympic movement. I extend my wishes for continued luck and prosperity to all."

In line with tradition, the standout players of the tournament were acknowledged: Sergey Moshkin (Barnaul), Sergey Ananyev (Kemerovo), Alkhas Ampar (Kuzbass), Magomed Abuev and Aslanbek Shakhbulatov (Grozny), Mez Ardenia (Abkhazia), Vadim Vakhrameev (Kemerovo), and Dmitry Udalov (Barnaul).

The commendable organisation of the tournament was a joint effort between the RA State Committee for Youth and Sport and the Russian Union of Disabled People.
