SUKHUM / AQW'A ―  Abkhazian State University (ASU) will soon host a new school from the prestigious Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), announced ASU Rector Aleko Gvaramia. The news came during an engaging session with Sergey Markedonov, a renowned Russian political scientist and a luminary in international studies, who holds several key positions, including Chief Editor of the journal "International Analytics."

The university plans to have top MGIMO experts in international relations deliver public lectures monthly. In a recent ASU Telegram channel update, it was noted that Markedonov led a comprehensive lecture on the pressing issues of global politics, focusing on multipolarity and the evolving international landscape, including Abkhazia's diplomatic ties with Russia.

Distinguished attendees at the event included Abesalom Kvarchia, Head of the Administration of the President of Abkhazia; Foreign Minister Inal Ardzinba; Security Council Secretary Sergey Shamba; and Maxim Litvinov, the Acting Russian Representative in Abkhazia.

Anatoly Torkunov, Rector of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) and a member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, has sent a video message to Aleko Gvaramia, Rector of Abkhazian State University (ASU), to mark the opening of the new MGIMO school at ASU.

Inal Ardzinba, Abkhazia's Foreign Minister, revealed that the initiative to create a branch of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) at Abkhazian State University (ASU) came directly from MGIMO Rector Anatoly Torkunov. Showing a personal interest in Abkhazia's development, Torkunov is scheduled to visit ASU.

Ardzinba hopes that the new school will transcend beyond a traditional lecture series, fostering valuable exchanges with influential figures capable of guiding students on their life paths.

The Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO) is one of the most prestigious universities in Russia.
