SUKHUM / AQW'A ― The VI convocation of the Public Chamber held its first plenary session, during which Guli Kichba was re-elected as Secretary, and Vitaliy Smyr, Alexander Stranichkin, Nizam Khapat, and Izolda Khagba were elected as Deputy Secretaries.

Sokrat Dzhindzholia, a member of the Public Chamber, highlighted the growing interest of citizens in the chamber's work, as evidenced by the significant competition for seats. With 42 people vying for 11 positions, Dzindzolia noted that society is increasingly engaged in the functioning of civil society institutions like the Public Chamber.

At the session, two candidates were nominated for the role of Secretary: Davida Pilia and Guli Kichba. David Chichevich, however, withdrew his candidacy, and will now work in the Chamber and head a new commission. Dzindzolia expressed support for the elected secretary and deputies and emphasized their collaborative work.

The new composition of the Chamber includes 13 members who also served in the previous convocation. Dzindzolia mentioned that the Chamber now comprises young people and representatives from different segments of the population, reflecting the diverse interests of society.

Guli Kichba, who leads the non-governmental organisation "Women of Abkhazia for Peace and Social Justice," holds the distinguished "Akhdz-Apsha" Order of both II and III degrees. She has also been awarded honours by the Union of Abkhaz Volunteers of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic.
