SUKHUM / AQW'A ―  In a landmark development for international economic relations, the Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Abkhazia and Abu Dhabi have signed a significant cooperation agreement, marking a significant stride in strengthening bilateral trade and economic ties.

During her working visit to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Tamila Mertskhulava, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Abkhazia, participated in the prestigious 'ADIFE 2023' (Abu Dhabi International Food Exhibition), a key event in the global food industry calendar, hosted at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center. The exhibition, held under the esteemed patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of the Abu Dhabi Department of Agriculture and Food Safety.

Chambers of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Abkhazia and Abu Dhabi have signed a significant cooperation agreement.

ADIFE 2023 has assembled a diverse group of stakeholders, including food producers, distributors, importers, wholesalers, retailers, and representatives from both institutional and commercial catering sectors. Commenting on the event, Mertskhulava highlighted its critical role in shaping the future of the food and hospitality industries, remarking, “This exhibition is a pivotal platform for engaging with our target audience, accessing the latest market insights, and expanding professional networks.”

A key highlight of Mertskhulava's visit was her meeting with Ahmed Khalifa Al Kubaysi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The discussion focused on avenues for joint cooperation, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening economic and trade ties. Al Kubaysi expressed his optimism about the potential growth in relations following the Abkhaz delegation's visit, reiterating the Abu Dhabi Chamber's full support for such initiatives.

Mertskhulava, in response, emphasized the strategic importance of this meeting for Abkhazia. She outlined her organization’s efforts in spearheading projects pivotal to Abkhazia's economic growth, stating, “Our goal is to explore and foster joint economic opportunities, facilitating our members in establishing robust connections with their counterparts in the UAE.”

She also commended the UAE for its advancements in industrial sectors, tourism, technology, and infrastructure. Further, Mertskhulava extended an invitation to her colleagues for a business mission to Abkhazia at their convenience.

The visit culminated in the signing of a cooperation agreement between the two chambers, symbolizing a new chapter in Abkhazia-Abu Dhabi economic relations.The event concluded with an exchange of commemorative gifts, marking the occasion's significance.
