On 28 June in the conference-hall of the hotel "Atrium Victoria" there will be a presentation of a book of memories of Sultan Sosnaliev, entitled "Honour is Dearer than Life."
SUKHUM -- On 28 June at 5 p.m. in the conference-hall of the hotel "Atrium Victoria" there will be a presentation of a book of memories of the prominent statesman and military leader, former Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister of Abkhazia, Abkhazian Hero, Commander of the Order Akhjdz-Apsha ['Honour & Glory'] (Ist class), Lieutenant-General Sultan Sosnaliev, entitled “Honour is Dearer than Life”. This event is taking place as part of the memorial celebrations for Sosnaliev’s 70th anniversary.
The book was published with a print-run of 2,000 copies. The editor of the publication is the poet and journalist Gennadij Alamia; the art-work is by Batal Dzhapua.
At 3 p.m. on 29 June in Sukhum’s Central Exhibition Hall of the Union of Artists a photo-exhibition dedicated to Sultan Sosnaliev will be opened. On the same day at 5 p.m. in the Abkhazian State Philharmonic Society will be held a gala-evening, in memory of the general. Celebratory events have already taken place in Sosnaliev’s homeland, in Nalchik. A delegation from Abkhazia, headed by Vice-President Mikhail Logua and Prime Minister Leonid Lakerbaja, took part in them. By decree of the President of Abkhazia, Aleksandr Ankvab, a State Commission, headed by Leonid Lakerbaja, was established to organise and conduct the memorial events.
Hero of Abkhazia and former Minister of Defence, Sultan Sosnaliev, died on 22 November 2008 after a serious illness. An outstanding son of the Kabardian people, Sultan Aslanbekovich Sosnaliev, made an invaluable contribution to the struggle of the Abkhazian people for their independence.
