ISTANBUL ― The Istanbul Caucasian Association (İstanbul Kafkas Kültür Derneği - İKKD) has announced the suspension of its relations with the Federation of the Caucasian Associations (KAFFED), signaling a significant shift within the Circassian community in Türkiye. This move follows the recent withdrawal of the Kayseri Caucasian Association from KAFFED, stirring debates about a potential domino effect among other member associations.

ANKARA — The Turkish Language Society (TDK - Türk Dil Kurumu), in collaboration with the Federation of Caucasian Associations (KAFFED), has published the "Turkish-Abkhaz and Abkhaz-Turkish Dictionary" for sale following a process initiated in 2021.

KAYSERİ ― In a significant development within Türkiye's North Caucasian community, the Kayseri Caucasian Association has officially started the process to terminate its membership in the Federation of the Caucasian Associations (KAFFED). This pivotal move, stemming from a membership dating back to KAFFED's inception in 2003, underscores deep-rooted issues and disagreements within the organisation, reflecting broader challenges faced by the Circassian diaspora in Türkiye.

IZMIT ― The VIII Congress of the Federation of Abkhaz Cultural Centres (ABHAZFED) convened in Izmit, Türkiye, on November 12, with significant participation from the Parliament of Abkhazia. Notable attendees included Venori Bebia, Chairman of the Committee on Culture, Youth, and Sports, Batal Dzhopua, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Social Policy, Labour, Health Care, Demography, and Veterans and War Invalids Affairs, and Inar Gitsba, a member of the Committee on State and Legal Policy, as reported by the Parliament's press service.

EKHO KAVKAZA — Yesterday, a press conference was convened in Sukhum by three members of the Abkhaz diaspora residing in Türkiye. Having arrived a day prior from the Turkish Republic, they announced their intention to join the protest against the enactment of the apartment law in Abkhazia. However, today, the Federation of Cultural Centers of Abkhazia (ABHAZ-FED) conveyed that these individuals do not represent the views of the entire diaspora.

Eskişehir, TÜRKİYE — In a noteworthy court ruling, Yavuz Yılmaz, a member of the Abkhazian diaspora residing in Eskişehir, has been granted the right to officially change his surname to ‘Kuadzba’, which was used by his family in Abkhazia in the 1800s. Yılmaz’s legal pursuit culminated in victory after filing his case at the Eskişehir 3rd Civil Court of First Instance on December 15, 2022.

The Federation of Caucasian Associations (KAFFED), Türkiye's largest Circassian association, issued a statement regarding the International Circassian Association's management of the earthquake aid that was supposed to help the victims of the major earthquake that struck Türkiye on February 6, 2023.

They will articulate their demands concerning the tragic circumstances they endured. The significant anniversary, falling on May 21st, will be marked with various activities and events.

Kılıç has previously campaigned for Parliament, being a candidate for the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) in 2015 and representing HDP in the second district of Bursa during the 2018 general and parliamentary elections.
